FAQ
Kitchen Countertops FAQ
What is the best countertop material for a kitchen?
Quartz and granite are the most popular choices for kitchens. Quartz is non-porous, consistent in color and needs no sealing. Granite is a natural stone with unique patterns and good heat resistance. The best option depends on your style, budget and how you cook.
What is the difference between quartz and granite?
Quartz is engineered from natural quartz and resin, so it has uniform color and does not need sealing. Granite is quarried natural stone, so every slab is unique, and it needs periodic sealing. Quartz is more stain-resistant; granite handles heat better.
Which countertop edge profiles can I choose?
Common options include eased (slightly rounded square), beveled, bullnose, half-bullnose and ogee edges. Simpler edges suit modern kitchens, while ogee and bullnose edges fit more traditional designs.
How do I choose a countertop color?
Choose the countertop together with your cabinets, backsplash and flooring. We recommend looking at full slabs or large samples in our showroom rather than small chips, because color and veining look different at full size.
How do I care for my countertops?
Clean quartz and granite with mild soap and water and avoid harsh chemicals. Granite should be resealed periodically to prevent stains. Use trivets for hot pans and cutting boards for knives to keep the surface looking new.
